Gingerbread in 50% of the Android devices

The latest version of Android OS is ICS i.e.; IceCream Sandwich. Though this a new one, most of the Android based devices work with Gingerbread. The percent is up above 50 and it is 50.6%. This is according to the Google data taken in November. This is for now. Gingerbread took almost an year to reach this. ICS may take even less time to reach this, as the response is overwhelming.

Others like Froyo is running second with 35.3% followed by Eclair at just over 10%. Honeycomb is at 2.4%, as it is restricted to tablets only. The new ICS will be working for both tablets and mobiles. So, there are very good chances for it to take over the other versions.  ICS being the most awaited Andoird version has got a very good chance to run over others. "The ICS has been open source from the get go, most of the manufacturers will begin to implement it into new hardware very soon", as per Android Community.
