When you are in Love you can't fall asleep because reality is better than your dreams.""
- Dr. Seuss
- Dr. Seuss
Love indeed an eternal feeling, otherwise why would Dr. Seuss describe it as something even sweeter than the sweetest honey, something more enriching than the knowledge of Alexandria or something more beautiful than heaven itself; all of which can be experienced in the realms of disillusion and sub consciousness, i.e.in a dream.
Love by definition is an emotion of strong affection and personal attachment. It is box containing all of kindness, affections, prayers and feelings. Love is the factor responsible for creation of the entire universe if seen from religious perspective because it was only God in the very beginning who created his children - all the living and non living beings. The four letter word LOVE is capable of healing wounds & age old rivalries; it is capable of destroying the negative energy & reducing stress; this four letter word has the credibility to even dissolve national borders and make us all very peaceful personally too.
Speaking about national borders let me talk about how love is interpreted in different cultures across the globe.
1. Italy - When in Italy speak out Cara mia, ti voglio bene meaning "My darling, I love you". Well Italy is lover's paradise and home to the very famous Casanova. Romantic cities like Venice and Rome amongst many others are sure to keep you on the move.
2. Greece - Ancient Greek has four distinct words for love: agápe, éros, philía, and storgē meaning brotherly love, passionate love, friendship & affection respectively. Wow! This in itself proves what importance love has in their culture which is very predominantly visible in the streets of a great country Greece. Hail Aphrodite! (She's' the Greek Goddess of love).
3. Japan - In Japanese Buddhism, ai (愛) is passionate caring love, and a fundamental desire. It can develop towards either selfishness or selflessness and enlightenment. Amae (甘え), a Japanese word meaning "indulgent dependence," is part of the child-rearing culture of Japan.
4. Persian - The Persian word for love is eshgh, derived from the Arabic ishq, however is considered by most to be too stalwart a term for interpersonal love and is more commonly substituted for 'doost dashtan' ('liking'). In the Persian culture, everything is encompassed by love and all is for love, starting from loving friends and family, husbands and wives, and eventually reaching the divine love that is the ultimate goal in life.
5. India - This is a multicultural & multilingual country where different religions, cultures & people find themselves under a common roof .i.e. a common nation. If words describing love is written here, then it's sure going to be a long list down. But respecting India's national language i.e. Hindi love is expressed as" Main Tumse Pyar Karta/Karti Hun ". India has a very ancient history which comprises of all forms of emotions know. No wonder Kamasutra originated from this auspicious land.
There it is in a nutshell the word Love and its significance worldwide. As it has been rightly said:
"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart."
