A shift from Symbian to Windows

(Source: Geeky Gadgets)
Stephen Elop, the CEO of Nokia, said “software updates to Symbian devices are expected until at least 2016″. That is 5 years future. Elop said that Nokia would switch to using Windows Phone as their primary smartphone operating system. Shipping 150 million more Symbian devices is their target before really quitting.Anyways,he didn't state it upright and hence it is safe to believe that it all depends on sales of Symbian. How can new customers come up to buy Nokia devices, knowing that the device's OS has an expiry?
