There were times, when the software update was to just clear out a virus that had attacked the mobile's software. There were also times, people updated their mobile's OS to get the bugs fixed. But now, that's not just what we've discussed above. Now, software updates are changing the whole look of the device.
For example, consider Android 2.1 to 2.2 updated. It changed the mobiles as Wi-Fi hotspots after updating. The same with Symbian Anna, it changed the way the icons used to be, the keyboard used to be.
One has to be cautious while updating. Remember, your mobile has to be fully charged before updating, since updating consumes a lot of charge.
If you are Android based user, then don't forget to check your phone's hardware compatibility with Android 4.0 i.e Ice Cream Sandwich. This OS has high expectations, since Google is even ambitious for that to
suit both mobiles and tablets.
