Researchers at Sungkyunkwan university, Seoul, South Korea are working on to convert sound into electricty. They want this conversion to be taken place in a mobile phone.
This brilliant innovation needs Zinc Oxide and two electrodes to be placed in the mobile. There is a sound absorbing pad which vibrates when sound hits it.It expands and contracts the zinc oxide wires. This movement produces electricty.
The prototype model made by the researchers was able to convert 100 decibels of sound energy to 50mV of potential to charge the battery. That means when your mobile is in low battery and you are away from home, it is time to call your friend and chit chat to recharge the battery. That's it.The only thing that is to be considered is, with the increasing sound pollution, this tech. adds some more to it.
