Android 3.1 for tablets on the Motorola Xoom is announced by Google and it also had made an announcemnet regarding new OS called Android Ice Cream Sandwich, which will launch in Q4 of 2011 and will work on both tablets and smartphones.Ice cream sandwich brings one version of Android to both smartphone and tablet.The OS version number will be 4.0 after Android 3.1.
