Web conferencing is growing at rapid pace so the future looks bright. Within short span its growth rate is phenomenal when compared to other modes of communication. Not so long ago, in 2001 it was confined to limited usage among general people using it to keep in touch with friends and family members. But in 2002, it was different story altogether,

with business houses showing interest in this applications. Every company irrespective of whether they are large, small, medium or big jumped on to have such system incorporated into the business process. The industry was then worth $315 million which was expected to grow by 22 percent in the next five years. The figure for 2003 was huge with earnings of $1.1 billion.

Various reasons contributed to the rise in video conferencing applications. One major was the traveling. Travel safety is major issue with all hijacks, terrorist attacks common every day. So company executives were reluctant to travel long distances to meet clients. Instead they relied more on web conferencing. Another reason was the recession hit global economy which resulted in lot of companies folding up or signing for bankruptcy. Globalization has led to terrific competition among the companies as markets became more unpredictable.

In contrast to that web conferencing evolved as a feasible option of reducing business cost and enhancing productivity. The internet technology developed at faster rate with more faster and powerful processors, memory, storage and other devices. Small businesses and firms were able to compete with bigger companies and reap benefits out of it.

Given the way, web conferencing is gaining popularity it is sure to gain strong foot hold in the coming years. Expert states that it may be used in more diversified fields in coming years due to constant change in customers needs.Needs support from several companies to raise demand in market.
